Engagements
Since its formation, The Royal Scots Association Pipe Band has had many engagements that reflect the diverse nature of its membership, from civilians to former and serving military members. They regularly play throughout Scotland and the north of England and have supplied a band or pipers for jobs as varied as:
- Hampden Park for two Scottish Cup Finals and various Scotland internationals
- The Royal Highland Show for a number of years
- Scone Palace
- Gleneagles Hotel
- The Royal Yacht Britannia
- The Penrith Show
- The University of Edinburgh for various conferences and corporate functions
- Various gala days
As well as many civic and charity jobs, the band has paraded for three Armed Forces Day parades in Edinburgh, including the National parade in 2011. It has also taken part in parades for the Royal Scots, homecoming parades for the regiment’s successor, the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland and the 3rd Battalion The Rifles on homecoming parades in and around Edinburgh.
It has been invited to perform abroad in public and at Military Tattoos in Belarus in 2004, Sweden in 2005 and Italy in 2007, 2008 and 2010, as well as:
In addition, the band has played before Her Majesty The Queen and our patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal. It has also provided pipers and drummers for private and civic functions all round the world, who have played for the likes of Sir Sean Connery. The band was also honoured to be invited to play for the wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
The band often works with the Royal Scots Standard Bearer Party, who parade the association’s standards.
